So it looks like I've got some catching up to do. The past few days have been pretty hectic trying to finish up our last international business assignments and travel across the country. So far, all is well in Mumbai. As expected, things here are much different from Chennai. As soon as we landed, it was easy to see the increase in the number of sky-scrapers in the city. While Chennai is a big city with tons of people, Mumbai is an even bigger city with almost twice the amount of people. If people say that New York is "the city that never sleeps", Mumbai should be called "the REAL city that never sleeps". It's hard to realize how massive the city really is until you look at it on a map. I have no idea how people in this city are able to get from point A to point B without a GPS. There are streets everywhere going in every direction.
We have officially started the internship with Capgemini and so far, so good. There is a group of 30-40 Capgemini new-hires who arrived here on Sunday from all over the world. All of them are very interesting and fun people to be around. It's pretty clear that we're going to get some great networking experience over these next eight weeks. Day one consisted of the typical orientation presentations and "introduce yourself to everyone" activities. The Capgemini office is massive and heavily secured. It took us about 20 minutes each to get our employee badges this morning at the security desk. Each day, we will be required to go through a metal detector, have our bags searched, have our laptop serial numbers checked, and go through a lengthy sign in process. And the process is just about the same on the way out of the building each day.
I now have less time than ever to blog, but I will do my best to keep up with it. I will upload pictures from the past few days as soon as I have solid internet access.
